Young people researching for the future

Stuttgart/Bremerhaven. As part of our event concepts, what when why® also explores the many facets of actively shaping the future. The Robert Bosch Stiftung’s current project “Our Common Future” in Stuttgart offers a very special perspective. Here, the focus is on issues of sustainability. Young people are working alongside scientists to research topics that will concern us all in the coming years. We organised the concluding two-day congress as an exceptional event, tailored to the target audience.

A wide range of topics
With “Our Common Future”, the Robert Bosch Stiftung has developed a school programme designed to inspire the next generation across a wide variety of research fields – always with a focus on sustainability.
Motivated pupils are given the opportunity to work with scientists on a research project lasting up to two years. The projects provide science-based answers to questions on topics such as fashion, nutrition and recycling. At the same time, the young people learn about study options related to sustainability and, through their research, discover alternative courses of action.

Youth Congress: an interactive event
The highlight is the biennial Youth Congress. An event that celebrated its premiere in Bremerhaven in 2017. Together with the Robert Bosch Stiftung in Stuttgart, a programme was put together that gives school pupils the opportunity to present their ideas whilst also providing an entertaining framework with themed excursions. Around 150 pupils, teachers and researchers gathered on the North Sea coast for the event to exchange ideas and work together.
A workshop structure made from pallets, unconventional presentations far removed from PowerPoint, and targeted excursions characterised the first ‘Our Common Future’ congress. We are delighted to be part of this wonderful and forward-looking initiative and to be able to contribute to its success.
