Together with Voith Hydro, www showcased a new approach to teamwork – and the path to achieving it
Stuttgart/Ulm. As we all know, change begins in the mind. And that is precisely where – in people’s minds – the messages were intended to take root at the executive event attended by 180 international participants.
To convey a new understanding of teamwork in project management – encompassing all the key changes and opportunities. The task: to create an inspiring and engaging event to mark the start of the global roll-out of the concepts developed by the project management and organisational development teams.
The approach: to enable executives from around the world to experience this new way of working for themselves at the two-day kick-off event and to involve them at an early stage.
A particular focus of this conference was on the idea of using a concrete, lived form of active participation to receive, collect and discuss ideas, suggestions and points of criticism interactively and openly, ‘in real time’.
"Open Space", in-depth workshops in small groups and the challenge of engaging creatively with the topics enabled the participants to feel that they were playing a key role in the overall development process.

This enabled us to develop a deep understanding of the necessary change processes and lay a broad foundation for their subsequent implementation across our global branches. Marit Gaehler, HR Manager at Voith Hydro, commented: “We created an open atmosphere for constructive discussion. The in-depth examination of our key issues was extremely valuable for the entire process and continues to resonate with our managers long after the event.”
The overall programme was complemented by gamification elements. The evening “Family Dinner” also focused on relaxed interaction. The international managers served each other food and drinks, creating an informal family evening filled with fun and a sense of togetherness.
