Armacell ArmariumDays 2019 – „Opening New Horizons“
This assignment started with a pitch from the CEO for the ArmariumDays, an event that had been established for years, with clearly formulated communication goals: “We need an event concept that achieves our goals in terms of both content and emotions. We want our participants to feel that they are part of a strong community and that we can achieve even more if we pool our strengths”. www‘s winning concept proposed that the ArmariumDays should be conceived as a hybrid event and that the participants should become more actively involved, allowing them to go back to their worldwide operating units as content ambassadors, with concrete to-do lists.
For the slogan: “Opening New Horizons”, Innsbruck in Austria was chosen as a location that would fit well with the company’s message and with the communication goals set out for the management meeting.
A further novelty: the carefully considered staging for the AmariumDays was conceived as a “hybrid event”. This meant that the international meeting could in fact start in advance of the event itself – a customised event app was used which was first used to provide participants with regular information, building excitement and anticipation, and then to give them the opportunity to formulate their experiences, comments and specific need for knowledge on the various focal themes before the actual meeting in a way that would be visible for everyone. This led to a lively exchange of views on the current themes, which then became more concrete during the course of the event itself.
The Armacell experience was rounded off by surprising and entertaining presentation formats, reflection sessions, mini-workshops, a content-related team-building exercise to create stronger bonds between team members, an interactive exhibition and some emotionalising evening events, including an award ceremony.
Consistent: the strategic goals and specific content were dealt with in more depth immediately after the event using the event app and support was provided for implementation in the regional offices.
STIHL Management Forum – for all the senses
At the beginning of every year, STIHL invites all their managers (more than 700) to an annual kick-off meeting.
Using entertaining formats, the members of the board report on the current situation and the future goals and strategies for STIHL as a global brand. The individual departments provide impressive success stories that also present lessons learned in an open and critical way. As the company’s consulting event agency, it has been the task of what when why®, to continuously develop the concept of this management forum since the year 2017.
The themes of innovation and high quality – which have been in the DNA of STIHL from the very beginning – always play a key role in the STIHL management forum. Working in close collaboration with our client, we create contemporary information events – with interactive elements – which are, on the one hand, highly interesting and meaningful in terms of their content and, on the other, really stand out through the use of impressive stage sets, olfactory and visual stimuli and the latest in communications media, e.g. their own event app.
This allows the participants to experience their company in a unique way and to play an active role in shaping the event through options to cast votes, as well as question and comment functions.
During the subsequent evening event, particular themes can be discussed in more depth and participants have an opportunity to network and get to know one another better.
Voith Hydro: strategy that you can touch
A corporate strategy that is undergoing transformation – culture in the process of change. 180 international managers experience change and are actively involved in shaping it.
A converted coal bunker in Munich serves as the location for “Old meets New” – a management meeting where everything works in perfect unison.
The content is perfectly coordinated; speakers and moderators have had intensive coaching. The overall plan for the event includes a number of interactive formats, the event app provides additional information and activates the participants to engage with the relevant themes in an open and critical way.
In hands-on workshops, important building blocks of the strategy are dealt with in concrete terms. The solutions are presented on stage and subjected to critical discussion.
A team-building session is held in the context of the evening event: a video workshop, where the prescribed themes are dealt with by the teams in a creative and light-hearted way.
The films that are produced are shown on the following day during the conference. The participants have a lot of fun watching them and the films also serve as a common thread running through the event and as a way of introducing the various themes to be addressed.
